The Geography Education Study Program successfully conducted the Socialization of the Profile and Scientific Vision of the Geography Education Study Program on May 21, 2026. This activity served as an important momentum to introduce the direction of scientific development, graduate competencies, and the strategic role of the Geography Education Study Program in addressing the challenges of education and regional development in the modern era.
The socialization activity was attended by various educational stakeholders, geography practitioners and teachers, as well as high school students from several schools across East Kalimantan. The participation of these attendees reflected the strong enthusiasm and concern for the advancement of geography education that is adaptive to environmental dynamics, disaster management, and sustainable development.
During the activity, the study program presented the profile of the Geography Education Study Program, graduate learning outcomes, alumni career opportunities, and its scientific vision oriented toward the development of education, research, and community service based on spatial and environmental approaches. In addition, participants received information regarding the strengthening of student competencies in geospatial technology, disaster mitigation, mapping, and environmental analysis, which are key characteristics of the study program’s scientific development.
The Head of the Geography Education Study Program stated that this socialization activity aimed to strengthen the relationship between higher education institutions, schools, educational practitioners, and the community as strategic partners in the development of human resources in the field of geography.
“Through this activity, we hope to establish stronger synergy between the Geography Education Study Program and educational stakeholders, so that together we can improve the quality of geography education and produce graduates who are excellent, professional, and capable of contributing to regional development,” he/she stated.
The activity was conducted interactively through discussion and question-and-answer sessions that addressed various issues in geography education, challenges in school learning processes, and opportunities for developing students’ competencies in geospatial and environmental fields.
Through this socialization activity, the Geography Education Study Program reaffirmed its commitment to continuously becoming a center for the development of innovative, collaborative, and relevant geography education and scientific advancement that meets societal needs and responds to contemporary developments.
